            冶金質量也對模具材料的性能有很大的影響,只有具有優良的冶金質量,才能充分發揮模具材料的各種性能。因此對于生產精 密、復雜、長壽命的模具,一定選用瀚超合金鋼質量優良的適宜的材料。國內外主要冶金生產部門也千方百計致力于模具材料冶金質量的提高。主要有以下幾個方面:

            1.冶煉質量對于高質量的模具鋼,國內外廣泛采用爐外精煉、真空處理、真空冶煉、噴粉處理、電渣重熔等工藝、降低鋼中的有害元素、氧、氫和夾雜物的含量,進行化學成分和澆注溫度的微調。通過電渣重熔還能夠有用地改 善鋼的低倍組織和致密度,提高材料的等向性。

            3.熱處理和精加工鍛、軋材的熱處理,應采用可控氣氛或真空熱處理,避免氧化脫碳,對有些塑料模具鋼和熱作模具鋼應由冶金部門進行預硬處理。對有些要求高的熱作模具材料應由冶金部門預先進行組織細化處理,消 除鋼中的粗大碳化物和鏈狀分布的碳化物,得到細小、均勻分布的碳化物組織,以進一步改 善鋼的各種性能,特別是等向性。

            根據國外的一些報道,有些熱作模具鋼通過電渣重熔一多向鍛造(軋制)一組織細化處理,生產出高質量高等向性的模具鋼,其橫向的沖擊韌度值可以相當于縱向的90%以上。
